Motviktfrukt is a small scale organisation based in Göteborg, Sweden, that plants native species fruit trees to support carbon offsetting for culture projects. We choose to work with this newly established organisation because many of the carbon offsetting organisations we found either hold the money for years before using it for its intended purpose and/or base their offsetting through forestry. Industrial forestry is not a good solution from the perspective of preserving habitats and ecosystems or in terms of carbon storage. Motviktfrukt hopes that by planting fruit trees which, whilst slower to mature than conifers, are less likely to be felled and actively support ecosystems, providing food for human and non-human alike.
